Add ‘most influential' to the list of names bestowed upon Derrick Rossi, Ph.D., PCMM/IDI investigator.  TIME Magazine has released its list of most influential people in the world - the TIME 100.  This is in addition to being named one of its 40 ‘People Who Mattered' in 2010.

In a paper appearing in the October 2010 issue of Cell Stem Cell, Rossi's lab has developed a novel RNA-based technology that advances regenerative medicine and could have broader applications.  Reprogramming of adult cells into pluripotent stem cells holds enormous clinical potential for regenerative medicine and disease research.  This work has also made TIME Magazine's Top 10 Medical Breakthroughs list.

"[Rossi's] new method could help move stem cell-based treatments for diseases such as diabetes and Parkinson's more quickly from the lab to the clinic," writes Alice Park for TIME.

Also included in the list are 39 others including President Barack Obama, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Steve Jobs, co-founder and chief executive office of Apple.  Facebook co-founder and chief operating officer Mark Zuckerberg was named Time's ‘Person of the Year.'
