The Aplastic Anemia Foundation of America, New England Region, has awarded $30,000 to the Immune Disease Institute for the research of Irina Mazo, M.D., Ph.D. The grant will purchase a fluorescent stereo microscope employed in the study of bone marrow transplantation and the role of bone marrow in immune defense.i

Presenting the award in May were Nancy Potter, Jessica Brilliant Keener, and Richard Russell of the Aplastic Anemia Foundation. Potter and Keener are also overseers with IDI.

"This gift represents our unanimous vote of confidence in Dr. Mazo's research and its potential to help find a cure for aplastic anemia," stated Keener. "We are proud to be associated with an institute that nurtures the world's finest scientific investigators."

Mazo works in the lab of Senior Investigator Uli von Andrian, M.D., Ph.D.
